Identify Need for Limited Announcements
Creating a Limited Announcement Audience Role can help an institution give a specific user (Role X) the ability to communicate to a specific audience (Role A).
Portal Admin should consider useful scenarios using a Limited Announcement Audience Role.
Example Use: The Department Chair of Physics (Role X) wants to send guest speaker notices to the Rocket Club (Role A).
Example Use: A Greek Life representative (Role X) would like to communicate with First-year students (Role A) regarding opportunities and activities available during Rush Week.
Example Use: A University Athletics representative (Role X) needs to send practice and training information to the Women's Volleyball team (Role A).
Create a Limited Audience Announcement Role
Portal Admin should first create a Role for sending Announcements to a limited audience. Role naming convention should be simple and clear, making it easy to assign to users for a variety of circumstances.
As seen below, "Limited Announcement Audience" is an appropriate Role name for a Role sending Announcements to limited audience.
Manage Permissions for Limited Announcements
Object Permissions for Limited Announcement Role
Portal Admin must decide appropriate users that may have the Limited Announcement Role.
Users with a Limited Announcement Role could be a department chair, athletic coach, or even an academic advisor. This role must be given to a user in Permissions, Available roles.
Object Permissions for Limited Communication Role
Portal Admin must decide roles that may receive targeted Announcements.
Roles receiving a targeted Announcement, or users in the Limited Communication Role, could be first-year students or other classes, specific clubs, or even athletic groups.
Roles receiving a target Announcement must have Object Permissions adjusted to receive announcements from the Limited Announcement Audience Role.
