Presence is a student organization & activities system designed to facilitate organization management, and foster involvement in organizations and their events.
Pathify integrates with Presence to highlight Presence organizations and their events within the Pathify Engagement Hub.
In this article:
Upon Integration
- Pathify Groups are created for new and existing Presence Organizations.
- New and existing Organization Members are added to the respective Pathify Group as Group Members.
- New and existing Organization Events are added to the respective Pathify Group as Group Events.
- Organization Presidents will be added to the respective Pathify Group as Group Admin.
Required Recipes to Connect Presence with Pathify
The Pathify Configurations, Pathify Database Connector, and the Pathify API Connector recipes are prerequisites for the One Step Presence Setup and are configured for customers out-of-the-box upon deployment. If any of the prerequisite recipes have not been setup, marked by a caution symbol, they must be completed before moving on to the One Step Presence Setup recipe.

One Step Presence Setup
- This meta-recipe reduces a multi-step Presence integration process into one easy to use recipe by accomplishing the following:
- Connects your Presence API key and Presence Campus web address to ensure communication between Presence and Pathify.
- Directs Pathify where to pull data from.
- Ensures the Organizations and Events data you are pulling from Presence can be input into Pathify's standard format.
- Allows a Pathify user to create and modify groups, and create a hierarchy of administration for those groups.

Prerequisite Recipes
These are the recipes that are already setup for you to complete Presence integration:
Pathify Configurations
- This recipe is used as a reference by other Pathify recipes to answer basic configuration and server queries.

Pathify API Connector
- Authorizes the API credentials you provide to integrate with the Pathify API.

Pathify Database Connector
- Configures a connection to your Pathify database.

'One Step Presence Setup' Recipe Composition
These recipes have been combined into the One Step Presence Setup for quicker integration:
Presence API Connector
- This recipe allows you to connect your Presence API key and Presence Campus web address to ensure communication between Presence and Pathify.

Presence Read API
- This directs Pathify where to pull data from.

Pathify Customize Groups
- Ensures the Organizations and Events data you are pulling from Presence can be input into Pathify's standard format.

Pathify Save Groups
- Allows a Pathify user to create and modify groups, and create a hierarchy of administration for those groups.

Some Helpful Notes & Hints
- To encourage more students to become an official member of an Organization, we suggest Group Admins provide a link to join the Organization within Presence from (1) the Info tab and/or (2) in a pinned Resource in the Group.
- Since only Presidents in Presence are automatically added as Group Admins in Pathify, any Presence Organization without a President title added to Pathify should contact a Pathify Portal Admin to be added as one.
- Recurring Events created in Presence will automatically be created in Pathify upon creation. Once created, the Pathify Group Admin is free to edit and manage the Group Event as they see fit.
- When a user leaves a Pathify Group, it will be flagged in Presence to avoid the user being added back into the related Pathify Group.
