Directory Overview
Customers may choose to enable a directory within their portal. The Pathify portal offers two directory options:
- Authenticated
- Unauthenticated
The Directory will first need to be enabled by a Pathify Training Advisor or an Account Manager. Please reach out to your assigned representative to discuss the enabling options if you do not already have access to these in the portal.
- The Authenticated Directory will be available as an option to all customers.
- The Unauthenticated Directory will only be available to customers who have access to Unauthenticated View.
Authenticated Directory
The directory will be available to all of the schools' active authenticated users within their portal. If the directory is enabled, all users logged into the portal will be able to access the directory by clicking ‘Directory’ located in the panel in the top left corner of their screen.
Please Note: There is currently no filter to make the directory available to only specific roles or users in the portal.

To determine which user records are brought into the directory, the Portal Admin can navigate to the Admin Center and click into the User Visibility field to select the role(s). Any users associated with selected roles would then yield in search results in the directory.

Please Note: Even if a user meets the selected role criteria, they may not show up in the directory results of a user's query. For example, a users individual privacy settings or if the user has not yet logged into the portal they would not display in the directory.
Portal Admins may decide to enable fields that can be included in the search feature in the directory. These search fields DO NOT restrict which users are brought into the directory in the first place, but are applied to narrow down query results:
- Role(s) via the User Role Filters field
- Campus
- School
- Department
- Course
- Interest
- Language
- Skill

Once the user clicks into the directory, based on the schools specified configuration as established above, they will be able to click into the main search field to query off of the following data fields:
- Role
- Campus
- Course
- Department
- School
- Interest
- Language
- Skill
- They can also specifically look for records that match a letter of a users last name

As the user queries and yields record results, they will see information that is stored on the user record.
Search Results
1. Institution Information that displays one of the following fields based on a fall back hierarchy:
- Description
- Position
- Department
- List of Schools
- Course Name
2. User's Contact Information:
- Office Location
- Phone

Admin View - Search Results
As an admin when searching for a user in the directory, you will see the following information:
- Impersonate Button
- Institution Information that displays one of the following fields based on a fall back hierarchy:
- Description
- Position
- Department
- List of School
- Course Name.
- User's Private Information: Email, Phone, Alternate ID
- Campus
- Associated Role(s)

Non-Admin View Search Results
- Institution Information that displays one of the following fields based on a fall back hierarchy:
- Description
- Position
- Department
- List of School
- Course Name.
- Campus
Unauthenticated Directory
If the directory is enabled in the Admin Center, portal admins may decide on the role(s) that will determine which users are able to be displayed and can be searched for in the Directory on the Unauthenticated View.
Portal Admins may then decide which of the following data fields will be visible to users in their yielded results:
- Phone Number
- Office Location
- Department
- Description

In the Unauthenticated view, once the user clicks into the directory, they will be able to click into the main search field to query off of the following data fields:
- Department
- They can also specifically look for records that match a letter of a users last name


Please Note: The data that is displayed to users within the directory is not populated by the individual user. Data can either be populated manually by going to the users profile in the Admin Center, or provisioning the data.

We recently needed to move a Faculty and Staff phone directory function on our main website behind authentication. We are able to implement the Pathify Directory and replicate most of capabilities of the Faculty and Staff phone directory. The Pathify Directory permits search by name and also by Department.
